Posted by Lois Chan on

Craft-Ease supports independent artists by offering their Unique Designs in paint by numbers so people can enjoy world-class amazing artworks from their home. Many fans want to learn more about our talented artists; so we launched a series of interviews with them.

We had the pleasure to interview artist Minjae Lee, the master behind the mesmerizing Circulation on Craft-Ease:

1. How did you become an artist?

Since early childhood, My mom always gave me a pencil & paper when I started crying or got bored of something.

So drawing was a really natural thing for me to do. I kept drawing since a young age, and got some attention from my first Deviant Art postings.

That's how I started exploring the art scene.

2. What inspires your art? Where and how do you find inspiration?

I was attracted by Animals and the colors naturally since I was young. and also got some interest from Fashion in high-school.

My art combines all the things I love, and I am still inspired by beautiful nature and amazing fashion shots.

3. What does your art mean to you?

For me, Art is showing everything I love in a beautiful way. Sometimes, I do combine some ideas and emotions, also some spiritual concepts to my art.

But basically, spreading more beauty out to my life and to the world is the most important way of art to me.

4. What is the most valuable piece of art to you?

I think It's "Circulation" from 2011. Well, I do love all my "Reminiscence" Series, since this series of art is based on my relationships.

But also "Circulation" is based on my deep emotions in a specific time with someone. So they are always reminding me of precious memories.

5. How do you overcome your creative blocks?

In my experience, my creativity always fades away when I focus on money and getting popular, not beautiful things I want.

I think feeling joy and fun while drawing is really important to my creativity into bloom.

So I always focused on what kind of beautiful things would make me feel happy, from every new artwork I make.

That really helps me a lot to keep my interest in art.

6. Would you describe the experience or feelings you have when creating your art?

Like I said, keep feeling fun and satisfied by beautiful colors and patterns really helps me a lot to get more patience!

So I always do alternately the fun part and the boring part (which is necessary for the final pattern puzzle to fit). My art usually needs a lot of time to finish all the complex patterns I want. It easily makes me bored by doing the same thing over and over again.
